Hans Ruiter (1967) is a tax partner at the Grant Thornton firm in the Dutch Caribbean. Hans currently manages the tax practices for Aruba, Bonaire and Suriname and has over 27 years of experience in national and international taxation. Hans moved from The Netherlands to the Dutch Caribbean (Aruba) in 1997 to work for another renowned international accounting and tax advisory firm and became partner of that firm in 2007.
Hans has been a tax advisor for a wide range of clients in Aruba. In the past years he has developed practical experience in all industry sectors. Hans was involved in most of the large take-overs in the oil and hotel industry in Aruba in the past 20 years. He has advised the governments of Aruba and of Suriname regarding tax reform and the introduction of an indirect tax system.
He also has experience in the guidance of private individuals, both in the area of tax efficient investments as in the area of immigration and emigration and finally has advised local companies regarding tax efficient structuring and transfer of the company to the next generation.
Hans is a co-founder and current board member of the Aruban Association of Tax Advisors (Arubaanse Vereniging van Belastingconsulenten).
Hans is fluent in Dutch and English and also has a good understanding of Spanish and Papiamento.
- Master’s degree in Fiscal law, from the University of Amsterdam. Studied between 1985-1991.
